General Info
Be invigorated as never before! Take the Polar Plunge into the Frank G. Bonelli Park lake to benefit Special Olympics Southern California, San Gabriel Valley Region athletes. On February 2nd, brave men, women and children will take "the Plunge" to raise money, win rewards and have a good time!

The Polar Plunge is an event where all participants race into and then frolic in the lake. Plungers set their own personal goals of how deep to go and how long they want to stay in the water (within the limits established by park lifeguards.) Some Plungers only get their ankles wet; others stay in until the lifeguards make them leave the water.

** Going completely underwater is discouraged since it makes it harder for the lifeguards to determine individuals in distress.**

This is the inaugural Polar Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics Southern California, San Gabriel Valley Region and we hope to raise $10,000! ALL PROCEEDS will benefit the athletes of the San Gabriel Valley Region. By taking the Plunge you will be helping Special Olympics Southern California reach out and provide year round training and sports programs for children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the San Gabriel Valley Region.

Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park- 120 Via Verde Park Road, San Dimas, CA 91773.
What IS the actual Plunge?
Plunge participants take a quick dip in the Frank G. Bonelli Regional park lake to raise funds for Special Olympics Southern California, San Gabriel Valley Region. Plungers set their own personal goals of how deep to go and how long they stay in (within the limits established by the the parks lifeguards.) Some Plungers only get their ankles wet; others stay in until the lifeguards make them leave the water. Going completely underwater is discouraged since it makes it harder for the lifeguards to determine individuals in distress.
How does the Plunge occur?
Just prior to the Plunge, all the wacky, crazy, and really excited Plungers enter the "Plunger's only" area, a fenced off area on the lake. A safety briefing by our lifeguards will remind you how to Plunge safely. Once the briefing is over, a "signal from above" will give Plungers the sign that it is time to take off!! How deep you go and how long you stay in is up to you, however, the lifeguards will eventually escort the remaining Plungers out of the water.
We want to sign up as a team. How do we do that?
We love teams! Sign up your team and start fundraising today.

What if I'm cold or get cold easily? What else do you need for 55 degree water?
We will have coffee, but you are responsible for bringing a towel and appropriate clothing.
I'm bringing my family and friends to watch me Plunge. Where can I park?
There is free on-street parking in front of the park. If you're not plunging, just come out and watch all the frigid fun!
I can't collect all my pledges before the Plunge, what do I do?
We can only register you for the amount of donations you bring with you to the Plunge. Separate checks are OK and should be made payable to SOSC San Gabriel Valley Region. If you get donations in after the Plunge, you can mail them to Special Olympics Southern California – Polar Plunge, 9 East Foothill Blvd., Arcadia, CA 91006.
Some veteran plunger tips:
Wear something on your feet. The sand is incredibly cold.
Find a good Plunge buddy and stay with them the entire time.
Bring a sweat suit to throw on right after you've completed your Plunge.
Wait until after you Plunge to indulge in adult beverages!
